Walter's occupation was WW1 (src letter) Was 20th Auxiliary Petrol Co. M.T.A.S.C B.E.F France.

  His mother died when he was 14, and he left home, moving in with friends (Williams?)
  
  He trained at ameteur boxing.  Apprenticeship at Waring and Gallows.
  
  He collected supplies from the docks at Antwerp & took them to the front lines.
  
  Cabinet maker though (src letter) he was a mechanic at the end of WW1.  Oriental Imports.
  
  From 1923 until 1945 he had his own cabinet makers' shop in Mill Lane, Old Swan (according to writing by my father) - though on a photo of his pick up truck, that has 51 St Oswald's street written on it, so maybe one after the other.  The top floor was construction, middle upholstery, ground floor was a show room.  They were relativelywealthy, being the only ones in their street with a car.
  
  After WW2, wood was scarce and Walter went to work on ships for a while, and drove a tram/bus during a strike.
  
  In 1945 he moved to Brighton and worked for Pagnell's shop fitters
